Art.Nr.: 261-N-PR-14
The somatosensory evoked potentials (SEP ) are recordings of the electrical response of fast-conducting sensory nerve fibers along the corrsponding path. After repeated electrical stimulation of a peripheral nerve, it is checked at various points along the course, usually at the level where it enters the spinal cord and the relevant area of the CNS. SEPs are used in neurosurgical procedures to monitor the function of the nervous system during the procedure and thus prevent damage to nerve pathways. In addition, it is used for neurological differential diagnosis.
