The SOFA score is a medical score used to assess patients in the intensive care unit. The SOFA score (detrmined every 24h) is used to assess the degree of organ dysfunction and thereby determine the risk of mortality. The development of the value over the course of intensive care treatment provides information about the mortality risk. Both the sum of the points and the point development of the individual organs can be considered.
The qSOFA score is a simplified form of the SOFA score. It can be used for initial assessment in prehospital situations and emergency departments when infection is suspected.
