The presentation of drug distribution in pharmacokinetics is done using so-called compartment models. The basis of different drug distribution areas is the fact that tissues are supplied with blood differently and they also interact differently with the drugs. The key to understanding compartment models is that the location of the concentration measurement over time and the injection site (usually the blood) are the same. Usually one-, two- and three-compartment models are used for pharmacokinetic descriptions.
