This diagram shows the potentially life-saving, emergency medical intervention of cardioversion. In principle, it is suitable for the therapy of tachycardic cardiac arrhythmias with haemodynamic instability. In addition to the lower energy output, cardioversion differs from defibrillation in that it is synchronized with the R-wave in monitor ECG (it avoids the "R on T" phenomenon).
