Airway restriction describes the phenomenon that with the same effort to breathe (or work of breathing) less volume can be mobilized through the lungs than in a healthy collective. Logically enough, the problem is particularly noticeable during inspiration, what was not inhaled cannot be exhaled! Pulmonary restrcition can be subdivided into intra (i.e. lung fibrosis) - & extrapulmonary (i.e. laparascopical surgery) entities.
