Action of muscle relaxants / 197-MS-PR-1

Art.Nr.: 197-MS-PR-1

This slide provides an overview of the mode of action of ([non-]depolarizing) muscle relaxants at the neuromuscular junction. Generally speaking, the neural impulse that is transmitted across the (nicotinergic) synapse and ultimately converted into a muscle contraction is blocked. The pharmacological goal of muscle relaxants is of course the paralysis of skeletal muscles, but there are various interactions with other systems, in particular the autonomic nervous system.
